Maybe I'm off the mark here, but I thought that one reason for nominating a
distributor for an award would be to promote greater recognition for a job
well done in distributing, advertising, and making available African
film/cinema. By making African films available and by marketing them well,
a distributor like California Newsreel promotes recognition and sales of
films by African filmmakers -- an endeavor I find highly laudable. Thus I
have to admit that I'm puzzled by Mari Maasilta's comments:
