Anita Borg

Anita Borg (1949-2003) was a computer scientist and a leader.
She aspired to build community and passionately worked to increase the number of women in computer science. She founded Systers, the Anita Borg Institute for women in technology, and co-founded the Grace Hopper Conference.
She proposed the "50/50 by 2020" initiative, in hopes that women earning computing degrees would be 50% of the graduates by year 2020.

Google Anita Borg Scholars Community

Google started the Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship in 2004. Since then, more than 1,000 scholarships have been awarded globally. The Scholars Community is composed of former scholarship recipients and finalists all over the world. Google formed this community in 2014 to help promote diversity in computer science. All of the members are volunteers who believe in this cause.

Global Anita Borg Birthday Celebration

One of the initiatives of the Google Anita Borg Scholars Community is a Global network of celebrations in honor of Anita Borg's birthday. All these celebrations are united under the missions of building a global community, offering support, and promoting diversity in computer science.
