To attend APDA Nationals @ MIT, your school must be a member institution of the American Parliamentary Debate Association.
If your school is not currently a member, please contact the Vice President of Finance of the league, Josh Bone, at joshua.bone@yale.edu. If your team is short of funds, you are likely eligible for a dues waiver that will make your membership in the league free.

All member institutions are permitted to send two debaters to nationals.
If these two debaters choose to debate together, the team is known as a “free seed.”

In addition to these two debaters, your institution may send “qualled” debaters as well.
Outstanding performances at regular-season tournaments during the year may serve to qualify (“qual”) additional members of your team to debate at Nationals. Please click here for a list of qualified individuals.

If the total number of debaters using the prior two criteria is odd, your institution may send an additional debater as well.
For example, if your team had qualified five individuals, you would be eligible to send eight debaters to Nationals: the five that have qualified, two that have not, and one more of your school’s choosing to make the total an even number.
