Transponders Open Parking Gates for You

MIT has installed hands-free parking systems at the Main Lot, the Stata Garage and the upper levels of the West Garage. This system employs technology similar to that being used for the Fast Lane program on the Massachusetts Turnpike and other major highways. A transponder attached to your windshield automatically opens the parking gates, eliminating the need to swipe your card.

Hands-Free Parking is a voluntary program provided at a cost of $20 per year. A one-time $20.00 refundable deposit is also required on each transponder.

You may apply online for hands-free parking or download a printable PDF application for mail or fax.

For more information, please contact the Parking and Transportation Office at 617-258-6510 or send e-mail to mitparking@mit.edu.
