Welcome to the Figueroa Group's homepage! Our experimental
cosmology and astrophysics laboratory is part of the
MIT Kavli Institute for
Astrophysics and Space Research and the
MIT physics department.
Our inter-disciplinary work takes us into the fields of particle
physics, astrophysics and cosmology, solid-state and
low-temperature physics, and engineering of space flight hardware
and large cryogenic systems.
We are currently developing cryogenic particle and photon detectors
for dark matter searches and x-ray astrophysics applications. Our
goal is to conceive, develop, and carry out cutting-edge
experiments to gain insights into the nature of our universe.
