Over the Labor Day weekend, the HR-Payroll
Project team and HR staff implemented the HR SAP module. What this means is
that on September 2, 2003, the HR department stopped using the Cyborg information
system and began using SAP for all HR transactions. This transition to SAP also
means several improvements in services to the MIT community.
A new service that accompanies the implementation of the SAP HR module is the
opening of the HR-Payroll
Service Center. The Center represents an important step towards integrating
HR and Payroll. Located in room E19-429, the Center is staffed by employees from
both HR and Payroll who are responsible for timely and accurate data entry and
processing of all HR employment transactions. Each HR-Pay Rep is assigned to specific
customer areas and they have been trained to handle every type of transaction.
The HR-Pay Reps will also serve as liaisons between the HR-Payroll Service Center
and HR areas and Payroll.
We've also improved how employment transaction information reaches the HR-Payroll
Service Center. Updated Appointment
Forms for academic and non-academic employees are now available online. In
order to reach our goal of increased speed, accuracy, and effectiveness in processing
employment transactions, it is imperative that administrators use the updated
forms beginning September 2.
If you have questions about the updated HR forms, please contact
the HR-Payroll Service Center
or your Human Resources Officer.
Administrators who were unable to attend the two information sessions in August
about the new forms can attend a make-up session on September
16 in 20 Chimneys in the Student Center from 10 am to noon.
During the first week of September, the HR-Payroll Service Center will distribute
position reports electronically and in hard copy to administrators in the HR Contact
Database. The position reports will provide the name, title, and position number
for each employee in an administrators' area. This information is necessary to
complete some of the employment transaction forms that require a position number.
In mid-September, administrators will be able to run their own standard position
reports from the Data Warehouse.

in SAP FAQs or contact the HR-Payroll
Service Center.
Now that the Human Resources (HR) Department is using SAP as its information system,
we want to clarify which resource you should contact for help in resolving your
HR-related questions. Based on the issue, here is the appropriate point of contact:
