About IAP: Dates and Deadlines

Independent Activities Period (IAP) is a special four week term at MIT that runs from the first week of January until the end of the month. IAP 2014 begins on Monday, January 6, 2014 and ends on Friday, January 31, 2014.

Members of the MIT Community planning to attend and/or organize IAP offerings should make note of these important dates and deadlines:

• Tuesday, October 1, 2013:IAP posting systems available. Organizers may submit activity and subject descriptions via the online posting systems. To ensure maximum exposure to the MIT Community, organizers should post completed listings by the first week of November, and then as they become available.
• Monday, January 6, 2014: IAP 2014 begins
• Friday, January 31, 2014: IAP 2014 ends
• Wednesday, February 5: Deadline for submission of IAP grades.

Student Deadlines

• Monday, December 2: Students begin pre-registration on WebSIS.
• Wednesday, December 4 at 8am - Wednesday, December 11 at 1pm: Undergraduates register for IAP Physical Education classes through the physical education website. Graduate Students register Tuesday, December 10 at 8am - Monday, December 11 at 1pm, using the same system.
• Friday, January 3: IAP Pre-Registration Deadline. Deadline for all students to pre-register for IAP for-credit subjects.
