In the next decade, the use of new technologies will change
the manner in which electromagnetism
is taught.
This extent of this change will be more dramatic in electromagnetism
than in any other core science
subject.
Because of the difficulties inherent in explaining the
nature of vector fields,
the teaching of electromagnetism lends itself to significant improvements
in exposition using new technology.
At first these changes will consist of the use of
advanced technology
to supplement the traditional approaches
to teaching electromagnetism.
Eventually, however, the use of new technologies will become
so pervasive that it will be impossible
to imagine teaching electromagnetism effectively
in their absence.
