Undergraduate Cooperative Education

The University of Waterloo has the largest cooperative education program in the world. I was required to complete six co-op terms (internships) in industry. I was paid to apply theory, learn practical (marketable) skills and work in industry. I don't have enough good things to say about the program. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC)
Manufacturing Engineering Assistant
• Project management role to lead process, equipment design for Corolla/Matrix model update MY2009.
• Subsequently hired as project management consultant to continue work.
• Designed new-student training system and wrote project management reference book.

CNPE Bugey - French Nuclear Power Plant
Site Engineer
• Developed a requalification program for the steam circuit of 4 reactors to be used after an over-pressure event.
• Awarded one-month salary bonus for outstanding performance and timely project completion. Invited back for internship and full-time work.
• Fluent in reading, writing and speaking French and English.

Research in Motion - BlackBerry Manufacturer
Manufacturing Engineering Assistant
• Project management role to lead process, equipment design for BlackBerry Pearl launch.
• Responsible for design development, assembly procedure, PFMEA of BlackBerry 8800 World Phone.
• Evaluated custom-designed automation equipment for handheld assembly

University of Waterloo
Teaching Assistant
• Head TA for team of 7 teaching assistants.
• Responsible for lesson plans and grading of Mechanical Engineering Ethics, Communication and Professionalism and CAD/Drafting course.
