light sheer cotton fabric with a permanent crispness. made in an open weave of fine, high-quality combed yarns. compared to the fillings, the warp yarns are greater in number and heavier. finished fabric may be dyed, printed, or embroidered. eyelet organdy is embroidered on a schiffli machine around a previously cut pattern. the fabric is permanently stiff, but not necessarily crease resistant. when made of manufactured fibers and organdy is more crease resistant. it is used to make dresses, collars, cuffs, millinery, aprons, interfacing, and neckwear
