Indo-European Linguistics: a 19th-century science in the 21st century
Application of newer formal models and of language typology based on a broad survey of world languages offers both challenges and opportunities for current Indo-European linguistics, as will be illustrated by discussion of one or two abiding major issues in the reconstruction of Proto-Indo-European.
