H. Craig Melchert is the Paul Debreczeny Professor of Linguistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he has taught since 1978. He received his Ph.D. in Linguistics from Harvard University in 1977. A specialist in the Indo-European languages of ancient Anatolia, he is the author of Anatolian Historical Phonology (Rodopi 1994) and A Dictionary of the Lycian Language (Beechstave 2004), and editor of The Luwians (Brill 2003).

H. Craig Melchert is the Collitz Professor of the 2005 LSA Institute.
