Jonathan Barnes is Assistant Professor of linguistics at Boston University. His research interests include phonology, morphology, and historical linguistics, with particular emphasis on laboratory phonology, the phonetics-phonology interface and phonological typology. He received his PhD in linguistics from Berkeley in 2002, the title of his dissertation being 'Positional Neutralization: a phonologization approach to typological patterns'.
