Lisa L.-S. Cheng received her Ph.D. from MIT in 1991 and is Professor and Chair of Linguistics at Leiden University. Prior to that she taught at the University of California (Irvine). Her primary research interests are syntactic theory, and the interface between syntax and semantics. Her recent publications include (with Rint Sybesma) “Forked Modality,” in Linguistics in the Netherlands; “Moving Just the Feature,” in Wh-scope Marking (John Benjamins); and (with Rint Sybesma) “Bare and Not-So-Bare Nouns and the Structure of NP,” in Linguistic Inquiry.
