Mentors Meet the mentors who guide the freshmen through the program...

Matt Carvey Tom Gray Ming-fai Fong
Jean Zheng Aparna Jonnalagadda Jane Yoon
Ricky Radiaz James Labuz

Matt Carvey
mcarvey@mit.edu
Senior in Course 2

Self-described as clever, mechanical, and a good-time boy (hmm... good-time girl, good-time boy, same deal? :-x), Matt Carvey is the gimp (no, not the graphics program, you geek) of the program this year. He did bad things and now has a Forest-Gump-type contraption on his leg. Ask him why. Let this be a warning to you. Remember the inspiring, spiritual run that Forest did? That's not what happened. A red-blooded American - loves steak and nice weather - he was run-time staff last year and his brother was a mentor, so Matt knows the in's and out's and will definitely help make your FPOP fun, at least for him since he "likes to make fun of things." :) This is another lame bio by a very tired and sleepy Janet. This is what happens when mentors don't turn in their bios like good little boys :P

Tom Gray
tlgray@mit.edu
Junior in Course 16

Tom Gray is from Virginia Beach, VA. Activities he is involved include varsity golf, associate advising, lifting, running, and beachin' it.

Ming-fai Fong
flamingo@mit.edu
Senior in Course 2 (2A with artificial intelligence & cognitive science)

I am a senior at mit living at bexley hall, and affiliated with alpha chi omega sorority. This is my second year as a mentor and my fourth year being involved in DME. I enjoy elvis presley, back massages, hot pink, and powertools. Post-graduation I hope to pursue a career in rehabiliation engineering or assistive technology.

Jean Zheng
zhengy@mit.edu
Junior in Course 2

Jean likes all sorts of stuff, including robotics, NBA, ping pong, baking cakes, origami, and (of course) DME :-)

Aparna Jonnalagadda
sjaparna@mit.edu
Senior in Course 2

Another member of the elite team of people have not yet realized that there are less than 80 hours a day, Aparna is a crazy crazy senior majoring in Course 2. When she's not taking an insane number of classes in hope of graduating on time, she loves soldering, working in the machine shop, blacksmithing, and helping other people do all of the above. On the rare occasions that you find her outside lab, she might be biking, or convincing non-believers that there are 80 hours in a day, or turning random places into dance floors to practice cha-cha.

Jane Yoon
janeyoon@mit.edu
Junior in Course 2

Ricky Radiaz
rickster@mit.edu
Junior in Course 2

Ricky hails from the great state of Texas. He's really into punk/emo music. When he's not asleep or watching TV (Chappelle's Show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force or Family Guy), he can often be found grilling up a mean hamburger. Ricky really hates writing in the third person, so if you want to know more about me, just come talk to me. I promise I don't bite....hard.

James Labuz
zubal_jr@mit.edu
Junior in Course 2

James Labuz is a course 2 junior, member of the Cross Country Team and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Jim spends his free time running and juggling.
