  a little about us
MITACF is a community of students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology devoted to demonstrating the realness of God in all that we do, living out the connection between faith and daily living.

In order to help us fulfill our purpose, we meet regularly as a large group as well as in small groups. We also have various other ministry groups where students can serve in various ways.

We are a chapter of the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, an interdenominational evangelical student-oriented ministry found on college and university campuses nationwide.

We're also a part of United Christian Orientation, a collection of sixteen Christian student ministries at MIT partnering together for the furthering of the kingdom of God on campus.

We do not all attend the same church; rather, we attend a variety of churches in the Greater Boston area. These churches span many demoninations, differing in many aspects; yet we all recognize our membership in the true Church, the union of all who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Our group's history dates back to 1990!

  statement of purpose
The purpose of MITACF is to establish, assist, and encourage students who attest the Lord Jesus Christ as God Incarnate. Our major objectives are:

  • To lead others to a personal faith in Christ as Lord and Savior.

  • To help Christians grow toward maturity as disciples of Christ through the study of the Bible, through prayer, and through Christian fellowship.

  • To present the call of God to the world mission of the Church, and to help students and faculty discover God's role for them.

  statement of faith
We believe in:

  • The only true God, the almighty Creator of all things,
    existing eternally in three persons
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit full of love and glory.

  • The unique divine inspiration,
    entire trustworthiness
    and authority of the Bible.

  • The value and dignity of all people:
created in God's image to live in love and holiness,
but alienated from God and each other because of our sin and guilt,
and justly subject to God's wrath.

  • Jesus Christ, fully human and fully divine,
who lived as a perfect example,
who assumed the judgment due sinners by dying in our place,
and who was bodily raised from the dead and ascended as Savior and Lord.

  • Justification by God's grace to all who repent
and put their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

  • The indwelling presence and transforming power of the Holy Spirit,
who gives to all believers a new life and a new calling to obedient service.

  • The unity of all believers in Jesus Christ,
manifest in worshipping and witnessing churches
    making disciples throughout the world.

  • The victorious reign and future personal return of Jesus Christ,
who will judge all people with justice and mercy,
giving over the unrepentant to eternal condemnation
but receiving the redeemed into eternal life.

To God be glory forever.

Adopted by the IVCF Board of Trustees in October 2000, ratified as an amendment to the MITACF constitution (filed with the ASA) in May 2001.
