In which our heroes ...
Orhan 1 Day 27 TE 6060
We decide to enter the ruined city first and see if there's anything
else useful there.
It's pretty darned ruined. Looks like there's not much above ground structure
anymore. Haeraan finds a loose ruined paving stone, so we press on. It
leads to an underground complex. We find a diary. "This will be our
last entry. We've hidden down here for weeks and are out of supplies,
yet we dare not go above yet, as things still roam the halls. Kevin was
the last to go up and we heard his screams. Remember us!" It's in
the native language of "Hynurian". Good thing we have those
amulets.
Reading on, they were attacked by the servants of Lord Gaatu, for refusing
to bow to the will of the great one. They were attacked simultaneously
from land and sea. Yup, those great beams of light were there too. Hate
those things. There were also monsters. Terrible metal giants that had
claws with beams of power and were impervious to weapons. (Beta drones.)
We climb out and explore more.
Alynna finds the remains of a building. We investigate. Haeraan finds
a way in. It's guarded by an evil holy symbol and some graffiti, "Knowledge
is forbidden, knowledge is death!" We investigate further. Of course,
there's a rotted stairwell that tries to eat Haeraan, but he nimbly dodges.
We proceed downwards. Of course, Oathar encounters another symbol. Bah.
He's out of action for 6 hours. Oh dear.
We set up camp for the evening and cover the symbols so we don't have
to deal with them tomorrow.
Orhan 1 Day 28 TE 6060
Yup, it's the remains of a library. We explore. We find a room with whole
shelves of books. Oathar restores two. "Rare Herbs of the North"
(+10 herb lore) and "Geography of the North". Oathar goes to
another section and finds two more books. Two books of children's stories.
Section 3: "On the Customs of the Nanuur" (primitive tribal
practices), "The Ferret". Section 4: "Discourses on Governement"
and "Down with the rich!" Symbol 5: "Rocks" (+10 stone
lore) and "Mountains".
From the geography book we find that the Northern Continent spans the
north, but there's a Isthmus connecting to the South. 100s of miles to
the isthmus. Oh woe.
We check out the next section of the library. Symbols everywhere just
like the last place.
We find the hidden archives of the library, but have to fight the ghosts
while holding our breaths due to poison gas. The ghosts go down simply,
but Kyrik accidentally chops Imre's arm off. Oh dear.
Most of the party goes up to reattach Imre's arm, while Haeraan and Oathar
go down and try to clear the restricted stacks of symbols. We, of course,
trip more traps. Which requires Oathar to shock bolt Haeraan in order
to free him from the giant magnet. This, of course, blinds Haeraan. Imre
works on it.
We decide to camp.
Orhan 1 Day 29 TE 6060
We rest and heal.
That afternoon we hear a rumbling sound from the southwest, and head
into the library to hide. Tradewind tells us about the giant metal bird
that flies around. Pesky. Oathar saves another 8 or 10 books. The big
bird flies by again. It's patrolling the coast.
New books: "Streams", "Igloo Making: Theory and Practice",
"Lakes", "Caribou Migrations", "The Coordination
of the Lords" (childrens book about the evil lords of essense), "On
the species of Kumquats", "About the Ancient Empire" (a
couple books about the old empire of Luzom)
