In which our heroes ...
Orhan 3 Day 61 TE 6064
We get the boat and sail out to sea. We head to the lighthouse island.
We tell the boat to go home if we don't come back by nightfall. We go to
the tower with the little rock hole and put the smokey quartz into the
hole. Then the doorway shimmers and glows with power. Alynna touches the
screen and vanishes. Oathar follows. Everyone else checks to see if we've
died. Then they step through.
We show up in a room wth four wooden doors at the extremes of the oval
room. With a circular stairway in the center leading down and up. Up is
a giant domed room of white stone with 12 columns with 6 crystal windows
alternating with wall segments with runes. Straight up is a 12 sided crystal
on the cieling.
- Window 1: looks on the three towers.
- Wall 1: Two curlyques (like a wind gust)
- Window 2: Barren forbidding looking tower. (Snowdrifts all around.
Angry red glow in the background.)
- Wall 2: A six pointed star inside a hexagon
- Window 3: Coral Road Entrance
- Wall 3: Little circle with a whole bunch of iso-triangles coming out
form it. (Like a sun)
- Window 4: Circle of Standing Stones with structure in the center
- Wall 4: Squarish thing within a squarish thing.
- Window 5: Picture of a tower rooftop with odd grooves in floor, and
a set of six panels each with a crystal hole.
- Wall 5: Flame
- Window 6: A giant cavern. It's dark. There are three pillars in the
distance.
- Wall 6: Two curves like waves
Each wall is probably an element.
We try one of the wooden doors. North, there is another domed oval chamber.
It has three windows, from the left we can see another island. The center
one has a view that shifts momentarily, but then looks like water. The
right one is also just water. When kyrik looks through the center window
he sees a glowing ice castle. That's a portal not a window. Oh wait, that's
the citadel of the Northern Eye. The walls are made of unusual marble,
with intricate tracings.
Haeraan does a vision behind to about ten years ago when Andraax walks
into the room and stares into the window.
Next room has a pedastal with a shallow basin on top. On two edges of
the room are two large niches in which stand statues about 14 feet tall.
Two different six fingered guys. Everything glows with arcane power. Fireplace.
Next room has a large oval bed. On the west side is a curved screen with
a bathroom behind it. There are again three windows. Another island is
visible to the south.
Final room has a large oval table with a fireplace and windows again.
Oval.
Back at the central staircase, Alynna plays the tune and then steps on
the magic thrid step. We're now in a circular chamber at the bottom of
the stairwell. There's a tunnel.
The tunnel angles down. It's cold and damp. Further down, it's flooded.
We send Kyrik to scout. When he gets to the end of telepathy range, Oathar
joins him. The two of them go about a mile and then the it comes up out
of teh water. The party follows it towards the isle of bridge caves. It
ends in a circular metal door.
The circular door is at the edge of the desert pod in the bridge caves.
It's a giant spherical room with a single wooden bridge going across it.
Down below is hot desert. We see about a half-dozen humanoid skeletons
half buried. They are laden down with glittering weapons and gold. Oathar
determines they are a trap. spiders will leap up and get them if we try
for the money. It's only 50 gold and some mediocre weapons in sight, so
we move on.
We take the potions of scentlessness and open the door to the rain forest
(shards) sphere. We follow the bridge to the middle. We take the left branch
and head to the bridge cave of storms! Oathar feels at home. The bridge
extends 15 feet in and ends in a blackened ruin. We're on the bridge remnant,
the sky flashes and the lightning hits.
We escape the otherside and fly across the pillar to the golden platform.
In the center is a ring of trees with a pool of water, in the center of
that is the Salufa tree. The central area is holy to Eissa. Halfway into
the tree, our spells go down and we crash into the platform. That's when
we notice that among the other trees are a set of 20 foot tall black Eog
pillars arranged in a circle around the outside. Yup, black eog pillars.
The runes say, "Ha, ha, screw you good guys." Then, the shards attack.
They hose us down in the first round. We fight back, but mostly flee,
flee and flee. We get to the Salufa tree where the holy circle protects
us from the remaining shards.
After we heal, Oathar gives Imre his scroll of Commune True. Imre communes
with Eissa. He gets a vision of a pair of windswept towers on the edge
of an ice fjord. In the middle cracles an emptiness. He see a man strapped
into a chair underneath the hole. His essence is being sucked away from
him into the hole. Eissa says, "Behold! The Orb of Unlife! It is nothingness
and sucks in all around it: matter energy thought power, No weapon can
be used against it. NOTHING can be used against it. Then he sees
two crossed swords, one flaming and one sheathed in ice. Beneath the Citadel
of the While Lion, bring the swords of unheat and uncold. Only there can
you destroy the orb of the unlife. Here in the caves you will find the
sword of uncold. The sword of unheat will come to you. When you have obtained
both, storm the citadel."
