In which our heroes ...
Orhan 3 Day 61 TE 6064
After we heal, Oathar gives Imre his scroll of Commune True. Imre communes
with Eissa. He gets a vision of a pair of windswept towers on the edge
of an ice fjord. In the middle crackles an emptiness. He sees a man strapped
into a chair underneath the hole. His essence is being sucked away from
him into the hole. Eissa says, "Behold! The Orb of Unlife! It is nothingness
and sucks in all around it: matter energy thought power, No weapon can
be used against it. NOTHING can be used against it. Then he sees
two crossed swords, one flaming and one sheathed in ice. Beneath the Citadel
of the While Lion, bring the swords of unheat and uncold. Only there can
you destroy the orb of the unlife. Here in the caves you will find the
sword of uncold. The sword of unheat will come to you. When you have obtained
both, storm the citadel."
Orhan 3 Day 63 TE 6064
After resting and recovering we test to see if we are surrounded by a
toroid of death, or a cylinder of death. Haeraan flies way up and eyes
the holes suspictionsly. The hole is surrounded by a metal contraption,
which is holding up a big metal bowl of some sort which is pointed to the
side. Oathar determines that it was set up a long time ago to manipulate
the tree. It was made by a Lotanna.
Using his Long Sense, Haeraan scans around outside the hole. We're at
the top of a peak on an island. There's an island just to the west.
Back down we head over to the west labled nest. Then we go to the lava
cave door (after a long corridor). To the flaming inferno! We go! The door
is locked, but we pick it and move. At the end of the long corridor is
another door. It's warm to the touch.
Beyond the second door is a sphere with a bridge leading across to an
opening. Yup, that sure is a cave filled with lava. Sadly, examination
reveals no Sword of Uncold.
We head to the cave beyond. There are three pillars. One on the left with
a domed granite stucture on top looking like the Jefferson Memorial. One
in the center is a pedastal with a dais with some odd glowing thing and
some stones on top. The right one has a circular plaform with three pillar
on top of it. Weird.
The center pillar has a slab of green stone. The glowing thing on it is
a jewel well.
The left pillar has no presenses in it. The metal doors say, "The Tomb
of Yaalc-muul." in Kugor. Haeraan's 00 tells us that he was the head of
the Lotanna said to have possessed a flaming sword of great power. There's
a guy under a crystal covering, and a writing desk near by covered with
pillars.
The third pillar has a metal disk between the three pillars and notches
in the pillar. We turn teh pillar one notch simultaneously. Alynna and
Haeraan go insane for some reason. Lot's of cicks later, we go to the jewel
well pillar.
This one has holes in the sides of slabs matching Alynna's key. Yup, it's
a portal.
We go into the tomb. There's a old guy in blue robes wiht lot's of treasure
laid out around him. Everything on the papers is Kugor. Many of them are
gibberish.
We find a note that seems to indicate that to get the sword, we have to
restore the power of the isle of lost magic.
Frustrated, we go back to the pillars with the niches and pick the lock.
The thing raises up in the center and there are three staves:
- Staff of Spheres: press the staff against a solid surface, and it will
create a sphere chamber. Any manmade object or living thing can make
a resistance roll.
- Staff of Storms: striking the staff on the ground will summon a storm
1)StormCall (Cleric weather ways), 2)StormCall (blizzard) 3)FireStorm,
4)IceStorm. (1/week)
- Staff of Souls: Can take the soul from anyone within 100feet and hold
it. It can return the soul if withing 10 feet. Can be used for lifekeeping
within two minutes. Can hold six souls.
Well, that's exciting.
We use the portal. We emerge out one of the six panes up in the high chamber.
Imre fusses with one of the statues and finds a couple of crystals, a flute
and a petrified wood tree branch. Imre wakes the statues up with the magic
water and their summoning names.
We get a purple crystal, a red crystal, a flute, and a branch of petrified
wood. (Alynna has a smokey crystal.)
The petrified wood will grow into a bridge up to 50 feet long and three
feet wide. It turns back into a branch when you are done.
