Session 36

In which our heroes ...

Orhan 1 Day 3 TE 6053

A brief interlude to before the dark times we recount the tale of Vallandra visiting her parents:

After a brief reunion, she tries to gently break the news of their evil house leader to them. They think that our recent encounter was probably the cause of the glitch in the airship schedule. They also tell her that Lord Sentoris hasn't been seen in public recently, and indeed had recently increased security at his residence and recruited two changramai monk as deadly lethal personal bodyguards.

They seem strangely unconcerned about the whole affair. Perhaps it's just a big misunderstanding. They give her a pair of Boots of Speed. (Haste II once a day).

We decide to go to Veriak's place and ask him about this whole Dyar stuff.

He looks for a vision: "I see a black scorpion. I see a city. The city is on a plateau or mesa and there are four paths leading from it. The city hums and makes strange noises. Within it, I see a maze. At the center of the maze, I see a piece of cheese." Oathar interrupts, "Noooo. Really?" Sadly, he is finished.

We discover the noise from the city is both ancient and mechanical. (It's said that long ago the Lords of Essense were masters of both magic and technology and could fly between the stars.)

We think about old cities. "The city of the dead in Southern Emer." "The dwarven city under the dyar mountain range in the mountains of gold."

Oathar goes on a date with Arisia.

Orhan 1 Day 36 TE 6053

We finally head out to Danarchis. The Navigators have started up again. Magic is almost back in that the funble range is only double. We head off to Danarchis. Oathar gets some money to invest in Sarnak. We sail to Danarchis.

Orhan 1 Day 40 TE 6053

We arrive in Danarchis. We offload some cargo and head on sailing to Sarnak.

Orhan 1 Day 60 TE 6053

We arrive in Sarnak. All goes well. The trip is uneventful. All seems to easy. It's a fairly busy harbor. We discover the women in armor, and men with collars around their necks. D. suddenly claims to be captain.Oathar pays the silver piece. Oh dear. We're doomed. D. has a great time.

Oathar: "Are there any local laws we should be apprised of before we get off the ship."

Guard to D. "You allow them to speak?"

Men are not required to be leashed, but its recommended. Haeraan and Oather start planning to stay on the ship. Bills of sale are required to transfer ownership of the men, who are of course forbidden to bear arms of any kind. They reccommend a good inn, "The Singer".

We split up, with D., Oathar, Vallandra, and Imre going to an inn for the night, and Haeraan and Kyrik guarding the inn.

Everyone here speaks Arlack. Bah. They also seem to speak Erlin though so it's OK. We get greeted at the Dancer. We're welcomed at the dancer. Rooms 3 and 4. 2 silvers a night per room. They seem quite interested in telling us about gladitorial combats.

Oathar and Imre put on their darned tunics and head to the gladitorial stadium one step hehind and to the left of the bad guys, er... Vallandra and D. D. seems interested in how one enters the games.

That evening, D. experiences the true power of comfort ways.

Orhan 1 Day 61 TE 6053

We send the ship off to Eizar so that it doesn't get taken by women while we're gone. We head out of town. Haeraan and Kyrik make their own strange way out of town and we meet them up there. We head west than north to find the Dwarven city.

Orhan 2 Day 1 TE 6053

We arrive in Bentara. Bentara is ruled by a count. We see some dwarves around while we're there. We go around and ask the dwarves about local conditions. He dodges the questions about local dwarven cities indicating tha the knows about some, but sends us to the guild hall instead.

Oathar goes over and checks out the guild hall. Oathar asks about trade. Durang came into town with a load of tin and stuff. There's a city back in the hills, but they don't cotton to visitors.Vallandra talks up some locals to see what goes on around here. One thinks he saw a greenish dragon heading to the isle of fire. Last year there was a cult sacrificing elves to a dark god. We think they were trying to summon a demon with elf blood or something.

Nieve is a town to the east northeast. It was declared illegal to be an elf there. The cult seems to have dried up for instance.

Also, one guy found a mine filled with titanium, but something bad happened and the dwarves there had to abandon the mine. This was just follow the road north.
