The MIT Linguistics Department is hosting this year’s meeting of NELS.

The conference will begin in building 46 on the MIT campus (the address is 43 Vassar St., Cambridge, MA).

parking: you can park for $16 per day at 139 Massachusetts Ave., in Cambridge (note, however, that street parking is free on Sundays).

The annual meeting of NELS has been going strong for 39 years, providing a forum for presentation and discussion of innovative work in all areas of generative linguistics. In mid-June of this year, it came to our attention that no institution had volunteered to host the conference this coming fall (2009). Because we believe that the yearly NELS meeting is an important opportunity for the linguistic community and should not be skipped, we volunteered to host NELS 40 at MIT in the fall of 2009.

As a consequence, our call for papers has been issued somewhat later than usual, and we hope you will forgive us for delaying the whole schedule by a few weeks.  We apologize for any inconvenience, but hope you will join us in Cambridge for NELS 40!
