New TDCRs

Previously referred to as "closets" TDCRs have become increasingly complex and sophisticated as networks have increased in functionality, speed and capacity. IS&T has been working to identify subpar TDCRs in order to upgrade them. New TDCRs will be equipped to sustain network upgrades for years to come. Upgraded wireless and wired buildings are supported by high end network equipment and MIT is increasingly improving these facilities.

In the past year, IS&T has worked with departments, labs and centers, to identify adequate TDCR space for several buildings. However, many existing "closets" are still in desperate need of upgrade as evidenced by the images below.

One of the major components of the network upgrade is the work of refitting the many TDCRs across the campus.

New State of the Art TDCRs

New building construction and renovations are increasingly including state of the art spaces for TDCRs.

The new Brain and Cognitive Sciences complex TDCRs represent some of the newest installations on campus.

Deficient TDCRs

The following images demonstrate some of the problems with existing subpar TDCRs.

At capacity wall fields limits the ability to add new equipment and expand network services.

Small space allocation hinders ventilation and cooling and limits ability to work on equipment.
