Spaces for Digital Media Literacy and Production

OEIT provides special flexible learning spaces to work with new media, engage in project-based learning, and explore 2D workstation visualization. Working new media is supported through the New Media Center (NMC) which provides the MIT community with the tools necessary to produce multimedia projects such as digital video, photo scanning and manipulation, web authoring, and more. The NMC is a "do-it-yourself" cluster of G5 PowerMacs and iMacs equipped with multimedia software.

26-139 - New Media Center

The NMC is located in 26-139. The room has a keypad lock to allow access to students, faculty and staff. Type "tellme nmccombo" at an Athena prompt to get the code.

When the NMC isn't being used by a class, the room is open to the MIT community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Check the Schedule for reserved times and to reserve the room for your class.

Visit the 26-139 room description on the IS&T cluster page.

4-035 - Digital I/O Center

Digital I/O center, 4-035, compliments the NMC’s capabilities with enhanced scanning capabilities, large format printers, and other options for input and output. The Digital I/O Center is currently restricted to scheduled courses and by special request.
