A kame is a mound-like hill of ice-contact origin. The material is usually sand and gravel which is poorly sorted, water-laid, and poorly to somewhat stratified. A kame may form either as a filling of an opening or depression in the ice (crevasse filling is a related form), or as a delta or fan building up against the ice which later melted leaving a collapsed mass of sediment. Kames usually have a reasonably flat top and steeply inclined rough sides.
