Research and Intellectual Property includes:
- Advice and assistance to the Office of Sponsored Programs, which manages research grants and contracts from the US government, other governments, industry, and foundations, and oversees MIT's compliance with Federal research regulations
- Advice and assistance to the Technology Licensing Office, which manages MIT's intellectual property (such as patents, copyrights, trademarks, name) and the licensing of MIT's intellectual property, including assistance with patent and license litigation
- Computer and internet law and MIT website issues
- Executive education, distance education
- Internships and exchange programs
- Permissions, publishing, and author agreements
- Research collaborations and alliances (domestic and international), in coordination with the Office of Major Agreements
- Software and database licenses into MIT
- Use of MIT facilities (in coordination with OSP for use of MIT research and service-center facilities)
