Sweat on One's Brow; Callouses on One's Hands

Laboring in this world is a trademark of life itself. Those who work are able to acquire those material things that make life easier to live. And the only one that truly provides for you is yourself. If you are interested in what I have done, look at my resume.

I have held jobs since my sixteenth birthday. During High School, my job was a great source of socialization as well as a paycheck. I worked as a Empowered Crewperson at Taco Bell Corp. and a chicken cook at KFC, both in my hometown of Franklin, MA. To save up for college, I did get a second job at Papa Gino's in Medway, MA the summer prior to my freshman year. Apparently, the only genre of fast food restaruants that I missed was the burger palaces of McDonalds and Burger King.

When I came to MIT I vowed that I would not work at fast food restaurants again. That landed me a job at Athena Consulting, a division of MIT Information Systems. My boss, Oliver, is a really cool guy, and is a good role model for the lot of us who work in the newly renovated N42, My job is basically to help users on the Athena system with problems and concerns that they have. Sometimes questions get asked so frequently that we have Stock Answers, so that a user can look it up when they forget how to change a password, or decode MIME messages.

For a time, during the summer of my freshman year, I also had a UROP working in Professor Field's laboratory. The graduate students called this lab "The Institiute for World Domination through the Study of Small Polyatomic Molecules," but to most of MIT, they were jsut the Field Group. My mentor was Kevin Cunningham, a really great guy and a very good physical Chemist.

I have three terms left here at MIT, and do plan on getting a internship somewhere before I graduate. And, as the impending gradutation from this place approaches, I realize that I will close the book on the life of a student, and open a new one on the live of an Engineer. Things in life often change, indeed the only constant in life is change. Good Employment after graduation helps to make sure that the changes in my life to come are favorable.
