Jorge F. Oliveira

Jorge received his BSc in Computer Science with Electronic Eng in 1999, from the University College of London. In his BSc he worked as a software architect specializing in collaborative manufacturing systems. In 2000 he completed his MSc in Mgm of Information Systems at the London School of Economics, earning a distinction in his thesis for the Portuguese Automotive Cluster. He then joined an R&D transfer and strategy consultancy firm, and managed European co-funded projects involving universities, small and medium enterprises, and technical institutes. In 2005 he completed a MEng in Logistics at MIT, and worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Sloan School of Management, with distinction. After a year as an Associate in Mercer Management Consulting, he decided to go back to MIT for his PhD in the Engineering Systems Division and is also a Research Assistant at the Lean Aerospace Initiative.

 

 

Pedro C. Pinto

Pedro received the Licenciatura degree with highest honors in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Porto, Portugal, in 2003. He received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2006. Since 2004, he has been with the MIT Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS), where he is now a Ph.D. candidate. His main research interests are in wireless communications and signal processing. He was the recipient of the Claude E. Shannon Fellowship in 2007, the Best Student Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband in 2006, and the Infineon Technologies Award in 2003.

 

Marcus Dahlem

Marcus received the Licenciatura degree in Applied Physics (Optoelectronics and Lasers) in 2000, from the Oporto University in Portugal, and ranked 1st in his major. Between 1999 and 2002 he worked in the Physics Department in the Oporto University and at the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering of Oporto (INESC Porto). In 2002 he joined MIT as a graduate student and in 2005 completed his MSc in Optics and Quantum Electronics at the Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE), where he is currently working towards his PhD degree. His current research is in near‑field optics and characterization of integrated devices for use in optical communications. In 2003 he served as a Teaching Assistant and in 2005 as a Laboratory Instructor, both at MIT.
