The Presidential Fellowship Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

MIT has established a prestigious program of Presidential Fellowships to recruit the most outstanding students worldwide to pursue graduate studies at the Institute. MIT admitted the first class of Presidential Fellows in September 1999, and currently supports 110-125 new graduate students as Presidential Fellows each year. The program is administered by the MIT Office of the Provost.

The Presidential Fellowship Award

• Presidential Fellowships will fund the tuition and living stipend of awardees for their first academic year at MIT.
• Presidential Fellows are selected by the Deans and Heads of Departments and interdisciplinary programs from a pool of graduate program candidates.
• Each Presidential Fellow receives a special award certificate emphasizing the prestigious nature of the award and identifying the benefactor responsible for the award at the fall welcome reception.

Individuals and organizations have either provided philanthropic support to establish a Presidential Fellowship, or have been honored by the establishment of a Presidential Fellowship in their names.  See a full list of the named Presidential Fellowships (requires MIT Certificates).
