Master Aleksandr Ruslanovich and Lady Morwenna Westerne :
In the past, the CRC served many non-martial functions -- serving at
table during feasts, for example. We'd like to see a revival of that
custom, not just amongst the fencers, but amongst all of the various
Carolingian sub-groups. Table service could be provided by the fencers,
clean-up by the calligraphers, putting up and taking down of signage by
the soothsayers, etc.
Our fencers have been, and continue to be, a point of baronial pride.
The best thing you can do for us is to show the rest of the kingdom --
and the whole world -- that Carolingian fencers can teach, marshall,
dress, behave, and fence better than anyone out there.
We have discussed the possibility of creating a baronial guard made up
of practitioners of the many martial arts; a baronial analog to the
Queen's Guard. We have also discussed the importance of not making any
huge changes early in our time on the thrones. As enthusiastic as we
are about this idea, we wouldn't want to do it prematurely or if there
was no support for it amongst the populace.

Master John McGuire :
I wold like to make them more noticable as a group and have them under
take a few tasks at the kingdom level. A group in livery (see below)
showing up
to escort the Queen of the East at Pennsic for midnight Madness or some
other
activity , or showing up as a group in livery to assist with list
marshalling
during
battles, as well as acting as Baronial supporters during local events and
Baronial sponsored activities at major wars.
I want to make the Carolingian fencers visible as a group, being helpful
and
getting noticed. If that can be done without boring or burning them out
then
I
would like to do so.
Shi Hua Fu and Lady Yelizaveta Medvedeva :
The fencing community enriches the Barony in many ways. I
was here in the days of the Carolingian
Rapier Conmpany, and their inspiration did spur me to pick up a foil, and
participate in mundane fencing at my
college. They provide unique inspiration, and an additonal venue for
chivalric combat.
Again, in short: guards! Our Kingdom does not always have
peaceful relations with its neighboring
kingdoms. Our Barony does not always have peaceful relations with its
neighboring groups. Indeed if a dramatic
storyline develops the Baron may not always have peaceful relations with
the Baroness!

I am going to preface my answers to the fencing specific questions
with the statement that I know very little about fencing in specific,
and, as you no doubt know, have not been involved in fencing in
Carolingia or anywhere else. That said:
Pretty much the same back: support, recognition, and inspiration - for the
Coronet and (even more) for the Barony. What more can the fencers offer?

I would like to see better relations between fencers and heavy list inside
and outside of the Barony. Even when the King may do something to annoy
the Fencers, I would like to see them show by example that they are as
chivalrous or more so than the heavy list folks.

A Champion of good character and martial spirit; the entertainment
of fierce and honorable competition; and perhaps a tutorial session
or two. From time to time we may ask you (one or all) to fight on
our behalf.
