Installing the Geodata Search Tool

The MIT Geodata Search Tool is an extension to ArcView. To use it simply download and add it to your ArcView extensions directory. Please find download and installation instructions below.

To download the MIT Geodata Search Tool follow these instructions:

STEP 1: Do you have ArcView 3.2a and ArcView Database Access Extension 2.1d or higher?

STEP 2: Download the MIT Geodata Search Tool.

  • Download a .zip file that contains the Geodata Search Extension by pressing the download button.
  • When prompted select to save the file to your computer.
  • Extract the contents of the geodata.zip file to your ArcView extensions directory (C:\ESRI\AV_GIS30\ARCVIEW\EXT32).
  • Once the file is extracted to this directory the tool is installed and ready to use!
STEP 3: Start using the extension.
  • Open ArcView.
  • Go to File>Extensions…
  • Put a check next to Database Access extension.
  • Put a check next the MIT Search Tool and press OK.
  • You will notice that a new button and menu item has been added to the ArcView interface.
  • Press the search button to launch the MIT Search Tool.
  • All dialog will appear and you can start your search.
