honors and awards Stephen D. Ansolabehere, Professor of Political Science, James M. Snyder, Jr., Professor of Political Science and Economics, and Jon Woon, Stanford Graduate School of Business student, received the American Political Science Association Award for the best paper on representation and elections. Associate Professor of Economics Dora Costa was the recipient of the Alica Hansen Jones Prize of the Economic History Association for the best book on American economic history. Loren R. Graham, Emeritus Professor of the History of Science, received the Follo Award of the Michigan Historical Society for contributions to Michigan history. Thomas P. Hughes, Distinguished Visiting Professor of the History of Technology, was awarded an honorary doctorate from Northwestern University. Alan Lightman, John E. Burchard Professor of the Humanities, was a finalist for the National Book Award in General Fiction. Shigeru Miyagawa, Professor of Linguistics and Kochi Prefecture-John Manjiro Professor of Japanese Language and Culture, received a distinguished award from Multimedia Grandprix 2000 in the networking category for his project, Star Festival Network. Robert R. Taylor Professor of Music Marcus A. Thompson received the 2000 Gyorgy Kepes Fellowship Prize. Rosalind H. Williams, Robert M. Metcalfe Professor of Writing, was chosen to deliver the Hans Rausing Lecture in the History of Technology and Industry at the University of Cambridge. New
