Message from Dean Khoury

Dean Philip S. KhouryAnother beautiful New England fall is upon us here in Cambridge, and SHASS scholars and students are again tackling the semester’s work with passion, determination, and—it appears—a healthy sense of fun.

In this newsletter, we’ve decided to highlight the groundbreaking work that is being done by six of our faculty members on China: a country that many are describing as the next superpower. The faculty members we’ve included hail from various SHASS departments—including political science, foreign languages and literatures, and history—and all are at different stages in their careers. But across the board, the work they’re doing is exciting, innovative, and deeply thoughtful. We’re proud to boast such a breadth of expertise on China—and we invite you to learn more about this and other interesting work now being done in SHASS.
