Commencement


The fourth SMA Commencement Ceremony held in conjunction with NUS’s Commencement Ceremony on 14 July 2003 saw the graduation of 142 students. 4 students were conferred the Master of Engineering degree in either the AMM&NS or HPCES programmes. 137 students were conferred the Master of Science degree in the AMM&NS, HPCES, MEBCS or CS programme. This ceremony also saw the graduation of SMA’s first Ph.D. student, Gan Chee Lip from the AMM&NS programme.

SMA Co-Directors Professor Andrew Nee and Professor Anthony Patera, Dean of Engineering at MIT, Professor Thomas Magnanti, MIT Professor Carl Thompson and MIT Professor Eugene Fitzgerald formed the academic
procession.

36 students were also conferred the Master of Science degree in the IMST programme during the Convocation Ceremony held in conjunction with NTU’s Commencement Ceremony on 10 September 2003.
