Welcome to the MIT Lindy Hop Society

Lindy Hop Logo

The MIT Lindy Hop Society is a student club dedicated to the promotion of Lindy Hop and related dances.

Lindy Hop is the original form of swing, which originated in the 1920's ( more info ). Lindy Hop is still thriving, and vibrant dance scenes exist in nearly every major city in the US. Dancing takes place in the Boston area from 3-5 nights per week ( local calendar ). A national calendar and blues-specific calendar may also be of interest.

We dance to a wide variety of music ranging from traditional swing to blues to hip-hop. Our dances are held once a week on Thursday nights usually in Building 36 on the first floor. Lessons are usually at 5:00, with practice and social dancing from 6:00-7:00PM. Please check the schedule for changes or cancellations.

Other places around town to learn swing dancing: Boston Lindy Hop, Boston Swing Central.
