For the fifth year running, Prof. Shun Kanda and students from the MIT Japan Design Workshop working with Keio University visited Tané to complete design proposals and give bilingual presentations to the local community. The work of Summer 2011 focused on innovative proposals for community revitalization in the tsunami-struck region of Minami-Sanriku in Tohoku, Japan.

Tané hosted the first annual MIT Japan Retreat for MISTI interns from the MIT Japan Program and MIT alumni from the MIT Club of Japan. The retreat was designed to reinvigorate connections between alumni and interns, as well as educate them about problems and opportunites in Tané.

Since 2011, Tané has been the home of in-resident researchers Ira Winder and Adele Phillips. However, Ira and Adele are moving on and we're inviting new recruits from a diversity of backgrounds to discover the 13 villages of Tané Valley for themselves!
