The Monocoupe

The highest priority of the team, in its first semester, was to develop a versatile aircraft that would be capable of carrying a previously unknown load and sensor package.

An almost-ready-to- fly model aircraft was selected and heavily modified to accommodate the instrumentation devices and further increase the flying stability.

After a semester of development, our airframe has proven to be very reliable and have a long range.

Sadly, our modified Monocoupe was lost in shipping between Boston and California in the weeks prior to the July 2 AUVSI competition.

Engine 7 liter beast featuring titanium connecting-rods and a dry-sump oiling system. I'm just kidding, it's a 2.5 cubic inch 2-stroke gas engine.
Frame I know it's balsa and it's really fragile. I know this because I broke it a little by squeezing too hard. The internal structure was modified to support a larger payload.
Tail We increased the area of the tail's control surfaces to provide a more stable reconnaissance platform.
