Volunteers in Technical Assistance

Type
Non-governmental agency providing technical assistance throughout the world.
Brief Overview
VITA is a not-for-profit private volunteer organization that has provided technical information to requesters in the developing countries for 40 years through its volunteer-based Inquiry Service. More than a quarter of a million requests for information have been answered in that time on a wide variety of subjects to improve the income, health, productivity, education and general quality of life of the requesters. The service is being transformed to an Internet-based system through which a consortium of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), acting as intermediaries, will speedily obtain and further disseminate information to requesters.
