Building and Social Housing Foundation

The Foundation (BSHF) is a research institute based in Coalville, Leicestershire in the United Kingdom. A major area of activity is the annual World Habitat Award competition which it organises and sponsors. They were initiated in 1985 to identify innovative and successful human settlement projects throughout the world which could be replicated elsewhere. Each year two cash awards of £10,000 and a trophy is presented to the winners of the competition on World Habitat Day. The web site provides a description of past winners.
