Ice602: double sample
  Top piece: 3 x P-drop f.g. ice I + 3% by vol 1-micron Al2O3
  Bottom piece: pure 3 x P-drop f.g. ice I
  Cold press 12 hrs at 120 MPa, 210 K

Conditions: all steps P = 50 MPa
T = 210 K, s = 4.8 MPa step (1); teminated by unintentional 10 K warming
T = 220 K, s = 2.70 MPa step (2)
T = 220 K, s = 2.0 MPa steps (3a)-(3f)

run summary

micrographs

5 f.g. ice + 3% dust runs

Final results: Relative viscosities of top piece vs bottom piece

  n=1 n=2 n=3 n=4
End step (2) 1.3 1.4 1.5 1.6
End step (3) 1.4 1.6 1.7 1.9
Results based on measurements of length and area change during deformation steps. Assumes same value of n in both pieces, which is probably not actually the case. Measurements derived from 12 strain marks scribed on jacket (see one on the bottom end plug in the second photo above) plus Photoshop measurements of area change in 12 photos.
