It's never a good sign when a box rattles upon arrival. Upon
opening the box I found the machine with its cast iron handwheel
snapped clean off of the shaft

No offense intended to the shipper but this is about the worst
packing job possible, only one notch better than slapping on a few
stamps and dropping the machine in a mailbox naked. This picture
really was the sum total of packing used to send a machine
cross-country: two large sheets of crumpled craft paper in a single
layer cardboard box. Just... wow.
