Cailin, Undead Cailin, and Darkstar Fix the Stairs to Tir

The Moon over Amber Starts to Bleed

Cailin, Undead Cailin, and Darkstar think that they have finished their experiments on insulating bibliomancy and magic with Trump. They head out for food and rest. A man runs into their restaurant, pulls a gun, exclaims, "You're not Laetatio!", and runs back out. They finish their meal, rest, and head to Amber.

Suhuy has headed towards Snarsht, who is currently in Amber.

Cailin, Cailin, and Darkstar arrive in Amber. Cailin wraps the stairs in magic. Darkstar wraps the magic in trump. Undead Cailin writes on the trump barrier, and the stairs reappear back where they belong. Unfortunately, the stairs are at the bottom of a blast crater.

Cailin goes looking for Amberite dirt. He gates to Garnath, grabs a chunk of rotting flesh, sniffs at it, determines that it is not dirt and not his problem, puts it back, and tries again. The next mountain over has normal dirt, so Cailin imports some dirt from there to fill in the hole.

Cailin worries about the direction of the stairs. Snarsht doesn't seem to care. Cailin has Jean move a few saucers out of the way of the moon. Nothing seems to happen. Jean re-covers the moon, the stairs are reversed, and a few saucers move again. Nothing happens.

Jean moves all of the saucers to expose the entire moon. Tir appears, coming out of the top of the steps. Unfortunately, from this angle, Cailin can see that the stairs don't go straight... and that Tir isn't level.

Cailin acquires a plumb-bob and starts via trial and error. Suhuy generates a wax model of the bottom three steps of the sea-ward stairs and drops it next to the three steps on the top of the hill. Cailin adjusts the stairs to fit the mold, Jean moves, and Tir appears properly.

Cailin tells Tate about the attacker. Tate's reply: "Aw darn, not him again." This guy is apparently the brother of someone that was killed by Tate's bodyguards.

Cailin tells Snarsht about Natasha. Snarsht determines that his apprentice should deal with it, and that he should be found. Snarsht heads off into shadow in search of his apprentice.

Suhuy acquires Snarsht's attention, and mentions the situation with his student possibly having Norton-style mental separation. Snarsht considers that to be a useful first place to search, and Logrus-pulls off towards Suhuy's ways. Snarsht's use of Logrus is in-depth and practiced. He walked the Logrus ages ago.

Now that Jean has moved away from the moon, he can tell that there is something different about the moon. It's bleeding.

Jean tells Corwin that the moon is bleeding and that Tir is back, and it's actually level now. Corwin says that the last time that the moon was bleeding was when Oberon was bleeding, so that's bad. Corwin is also not good with the idea of Ingold bleeding, on or near his Pattern.

Jean notices that the moon is getting pretty wet.

Cailin asks folks nearby if they could back him up for their attempts to deal with the snow in House Moonlight. Darkstar suggests that Cailin not experiment with the snow in House Moonlight -- it might piss off Shiryu, and that's bad. Really bad. Darkstar tries to explain, but Cailin doesn't get it.

Cailin goes to House Moonlight to experiment.

Preparing for Cailin's Experimentation

Suhuy has traveled back to his ways with Snarsht. He is just back in his ways when there is a polite tap at one of his entrances usually used by the Realms Lords. It's Shiryu. Shiryu asks Suhuy if he has seen the Savior of Chaos. Suhuy indicates their meeting room, and Shiryu heads inside.

Savior of Chaos is informed by Shiryu that there is some experimentation going on in House Moonlight, and that he would like to make sure that the effects don't spill out beyond the house. Savior of Chaos goes off to monitor the fringe of the House.

Snarsht walks into the room where the Logrus instruction is happening. The teacher looks like he is about to give Snarsht the appropriate reverence, has his nose batted by Snarsht with Logrus, stops, nods to the cat, and goes back to teaching the class.

Cailin experiments in House Moonlight. The power source for the snow spell is non-local. There doesn't seem to be any inherent power in the snow, so he can't tap it. Cailin sends a mechanical bird off to find the power source for the snow. It flies off. He curses and sends another one off to find the first, or find the source, and report back.

In Amber

The blood is continuing to pool on the moon. It's spreading out into an even coat. Jean collects some of the blood, in case Oberon wants it back, and tells the Hamsters. Hamster Corwin can't see the blood. Jean checks with Darkstar, who can't see the blood either.

Jean tells Corwin that Hamster Corwin and Darkstar can't see the blood on the moon. Dreaming is mentioned as a possibility.

In Another Reality

Hamster Dworkin wakes up, looks at Jean, and asks if it is safe to return yet. Jean states that it is, and Hamster Dworkin picks up Dworkin. They head off to the Badger Reality to sober up Dworkin.

Cailin Experiments with Snow In House Moonlight

Cailin makes bird number three, and asks Tate if he can make a trump of it. Tate and Undead Cailin are determined to not be able to make things living. Tate trumps in a bird from shadow. It's a largish raven. Cailin tries to magically imbue upon it the instructions from the birds.

Way back in the back of Cailin's mind, he can feel a similarity with that bird from his early childhood.

Sane Dworkin, Again

Sane Ferethyn, Again

Hamster Dworkin un-does whatever he did. Dworkin wakes up, looks around, and says, "Wow, that hurt."

Jean fishes the Dworkins back to Ferethyn's ways.

Jean tells Dworkin that the moon appears to be covered in blood. Dworkin is worried briefly that Jean managed to get past the ceiling to the moon itself, but seems better when Jean clarifies that he's looking through the ceiling.

There is a polite tap on the door. Jean opens it. It's Ferethyn. Ferethyn seer's somewhat laid back. Jean explains about the sobering of the Dworkin.

Ferethyn tells Jean that the last memory he had before he woke up was that of attacking the Dworkins. He poses an open question as to why he might have done so. Jean speculates that Melk may have fixed the problem, and that stress may have been involved. Ferethyn apologizes for any inconvenience that he may have caused due to too much stress.

Tir's current and former state is mentioned. Dworkin suggests that some of his descendants should go help them clean up from the damage caused by it being askew. Jean mentions the idea to Corwin and Faythe.

Inheritance is brought up. Oberon made Malachai regent, and there is paperwork on that. Malachai made Celeste regent, and there is paperwork on that. Celeste died, and Faythe inherited the role of regent. Jean suggests bringing Faythe in, and does so.

Faythe arrives at about the same time that tea begins to serve itself around the table. Jean performs introductions.

Faythe and Dworkin chat. Dworkin is very cultured; he puts Faythe at her ease quite skillfully. They chat for some time; Dworkin dismisses Faythe; Faythe returns to House Hendrake. Dworkin comments that she is quite satisfactory, and finishes an official writ proclaiming Faythe the regent for the regent.

The top note in the archive in Amber reads: "I proclaim myself King -- Benedict" Jean carefully tractors the note and sends it off.

Jean knocks on Suhuy's ways. Jean hands Suhuy the paper and asks that he make sure that Ferro or Oberon know that it is by Evil Benedict, not the local Benedict. Suhuy examines it - no power, and doesn't appear to be the local Benedict's handwriting.

Jean places Dworkin's writ on the top of the pile. Jean tries to enter Dworkin's writ into the logs, but finds that it will not receive his input. He places a sticky note in the logs mentioning Dworkin's writ.

In Ferethyn's Ways

Suhuy mentioned Dworkin's desire to talk with his brother about old times to Shiryu; Shiryu volunteers to stop by Ferethyn's place at some point.

Shiryu politely knocks at Ferethyn's door. Shiryu is admitted, bows to Ferethyn as an equal, nods to Dworkin as Dworkin, and acknowledges Jean's presence. Ferethyn performs introductions.

Shiryu states that he is here on Suhuy's behalf, who is rather busy at the moment. Shiryu and Dworkin start reminiscing. Several of the stories seem to make Ferethyn uncomfortable. Apparently Ferethyn and Dworkin didn't get along all that well. Dworkin, the Serpent, and Shiryu all seem to have the same equally low opinion of magic. Ferethyn does join into some of the story telling.

The Jean present, Dworkin's apprentice, finds that while listening to these stories, occasionally he is drifting from the Jean collective.
