Norton and Faythe have finished fixing Silver Lyra. Norton briefs her in an insane sort of way. Jean relays with the Dancers' Guild and has Silver Lyra check in. She is given a briefing folder, and reads it internally while Norton talks.
Cailin, in House Cara, trumps his apprentice and asks for his frozen body to be brought to House Cara.
A small bluish dragon arrives outside House Cara with a companion. The dragon head-butts the door, which opens. The companion climbs up the front wall of the House.
The dragon walks over and sniffs at the yeti, which smells like Cailin. The body that looks like Cailin doesn't smell like Cailin. The dragon plays with the yeti and the body for a while.
Hubert shows up and charges the dragon. The dragon breaths, but the fire parts around Hubert. The dragon blocks with the yeti, and people start putting out fires.
They fail to communicate at some length.
A loud, deep voice bellows, "Pipe down! I'm trying to nap!" They woke the bear-mage again.
The second of the Mages' Guild talks with the dragon. He can actually speak draco.
More miscommunication happens. The dragon complains about being blue. The bear-mage is finally brought into trump contact with Cailin and Beldin.
They argue for some time. The bear-mage fails to appreciate Cailin's attitude, and thinks that Cailin should learn how to speak with dragons. Cailin tries to explain the sock situation and the history of his problems with Toram to the bear-mage.
The bear-mage asks the dragon to destroy the first body. The dragon breaths fire at the prone Cailin-thing. The fire is absorbed, the figure glows with power, and starts to sit up. The dragon summons his second and asks for help in killing that body.
The assassin looks at the situation and vanishes.
In Cobalt, an asssassin appears in front of Princess Chandra. She throws it at Ilk and says, "Deal with that - I'm busy!" The Serpent's Apprentice takes the assassin, who says that he needs permission to kill one of Cailin's bodies that doesn't have Cailin in it.
Ilk pours through Jean to Chaos, taking the assassin with him. The Serpent's Apprentice curls up around House Cara and sticks a few eyestalks inside. The bright blue dragon bows appropriately to the Serpent's Apprentice; an eyestalk blinks in return.
The Serpent's Apprentice sees Toram and another Toram, in Cailin's body. He pulls out the Toram-soul-cuisinart. People see an odd, scary looking device float into the room. The first Toram is consumed. The second is protected by something with Melk's signature. Ilk informs Melk of the situation; the ward drops; the second Toram is consumed.
Ilk notices another bit of Toram trying to run and pull the socks out from under his body. He slams the thing with the Toram quisinart, then rubs it over the socks. Wanderer is gone, along with the lower half of Hubert's leg. The sock drawer is still mostly intact.
Hubert is screaming. One of the Cailins is empty; the other has a Cailin in it.
Cailin tries to patch himself together. The small dragon tries to help, and a pile of duct tape and wood glue appears. Cailin sighs and starts taping up his wounds. Ilk welds the holes closed, and Cailin stops playing with duct tape.
The small blue dragon grabs the yeti and slams it against the body. On the third or fourth bounce, the yeti merges with the body. Cailin is surprised; the dragon is pleased.
People chat. The Serpent's Apprentice translates for the little dragon, and is given a gold coin as tribute.
Serpent's apprentice warns the small blue dragon about marbles, and asks him to swat Cailin should he play with them. Serpent's Apprentice hands the small blue dragon a keg of wixerbrau, along with instructions.
Silver Lyra and Jean chat, and then Silver Lyra fishes to the Dancers' Guild.
Norton and Faythe head off to find a couch to celebrate their success.
Back at the Spiral there is some level of success and the evil beastie has been beaten back. The stolen souls have been retrieved. At which point in time, Erica screams, says a few sulpherous words, seems to try to attack Princess Chandra for a moment, and then throws herself at the creature and she and the creature disappear.
Gentleman Suhuy does not seem to be reviving; local Dworkin is groaning. Jean gives Dworkin a hangover cure. Ecto-Ilk takes ecto-Suhuy through Jean to House Cara. Ecto-Suhuy goes off with the bear-mage for a lie-down. Ecto-Ilk stays to keep an eye on things.
The Serpent's Apprentice heads off to scan Chaos for signs of Toram taint.
Ferethyn contacts Ilk, and says that a steady stream of anti-dragons has been pouring into the moat. He's worried about an overflow problem. Ilk pours through Jean to Shiryu. The chat. Shiryu's research is going well; he can now safely invert marbles and is working on a way to teach a simplified process to others. Shiryu looks, and states that the anti-dragons don't seem to be going voluntarily. He suggests that Ilk have a mage-ish minion track down the source.
Shiryu skins two marbles and pours magical power through Ilk back into the world.
Ilk returns, briefs Ferethyn, then suggests that House Cara block magic. People have various suggestions. Ecto-Suhuy has ecto-Ilk modify the Pattern slightly to keep any magic from entering the House.
Ilk goes to Amaranth to borrow a mage. She's in her bath. After a while, he heads off in search of the duty officer. The duty officer isn't sure who is there, but mentions a name. Ilk pulls that person downstairs and then off to Ferethyn. Ferethyn shows the mage how to perceive the anti-dragons, then Ilk sets off into shadow, using the mage as a lure.
Jean and Titania are discussing the details of getting his big scale moved. He tells her that Faythe is starting to re-populate Darkover.
