Gaming stuff
Live Action Roleplaying
- I used to be extremely active in the
MIT Assassins' Guild.
- I've been playing
Madrigal since the game
started in 1999. Madrigal's rules fix a number of the mechanics problems
inherent in NERO and other
wander-around-in-the-woods-and-hit-people-with-padded-sticks style LARPs.
- www.larp.com hosts a fair number
of boffer-LARP web sites.
- One of the older and more widely franchised boffer LARPs is the New England Roleplaying
Organization. I played NERO occasionally since 1991, in three
different chapters -
Ravenholt, Ashbury, and Avendale
- but quit NERO entirely at some point in the 1990s.
- Dark Legends of the Shadow Realms was a NERO variant chapter that I
NPC'd for a number of years after having punted NERO proper.
Tabletop Gaming Runs
- I kept run logs for an Amber diceless
gaming run that started playing in 1996, but haven't had the time to
update them in years.
- I'm currently in a Rolemaster run, set in the B5
universe, which has
a wiki
including run logs.
- The predecessor to the B5 run also had a site by the GM
and run logs on the web.
- The wiki
for one of my old Rolemaster campaigns, powered by scripts.mit.edu
Gaming Companies
- Iron Crown Enterprises, the
publishers of Rolemaster, has survived bankrupcy, beed sold once or
twice, and is back in business again.
- RPGNow sells a wide variety of
gaming-related "books" in pdf-format, including most of D&D and AD&D.
- The Guild Companion is
an "Unofficial On-Line Gaming magazine supporting ICE products". They
also sell ICE-related PDFs, via RPGNow.
- Great news - Amarillo Design Bureau, the company that actually
designed
Star Fleet Battles, has
finally managed to buy the rights to SFB from Task Force Games, and is
reprinting many of the modules, rulebooks, and games that have been out
of print for years.
- Steve Jackson Games, the
makers of GURPS
- Pyramid Magazine
- White Wolf, the makers of
several related gaming systems based on their World of Darkness
- Avalon Hill, the maker of
many fine wargames
- Fine Games is a gaming store
specializing in strategy games, including used and out-of-print games.
- Sentry Box claims to be
"Canada's Largest Adventure Gaming and Science Fiction & Fantasy Store"
