Foam Core/Blue Foam Workshops
Overview
Each student should sign up and participate in a 1.5 hr foam core challenge workshop and a 1.5 hr blue foam workshop. Attendance at these workshops is expected in lieu of lectures on Friday, March 17 and 24. Each workshop will culminate in a piece of work to be submitted for your online portfolio.
If you are able to do so, please sign up for workshops outside of the Friday lecture time so that students who are unable to make other times can sign-up for the Friday lecture time workshops. Thank you.
Foam Core Challenge Workshop
In the foam core workshop, you will make a blade box for the blade box challenge. Please review the details in the handout.

This is the portion of Monday's lecture covering foam core techniques.
Please review, as needed, before and during your workshop.
Preparation
Brainstorm ideas for your blade box and sketch out your final idea in your design notebook. Please try to keep it simple so that it can be completed in 1.5 hours. If you do not finish in 1.5 hours, you may come to office hours to work on it some more.

Signups are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each session has limited capacity, so you may be unlikely to get your first choice time if it is during lecture time or the evening. You will need to be flexible. For the foam core workshop, if you can only attend the first hour, you can still sign-up for that workshop (though it is preferred if you can attend for the full 1.5 hours). If you do not finish, you may finish later during a later workshop time (space permitting) and also office hours on Monday morning 9AM-12PM.
Blue Foam Workshop
In this workshop, you will be making a toy out of blue foam.
