Thermochromatic Mitt

This idea for an intelligent oven mitt is a simple solution that uses temperature-sensitive, color-changing materials. Instead of using electrical components that can significantly increase the cost and complexity, this solution is purely physical. When a thermochromatic resin in a molded silicone mitt reaches a threshold temperature, it changes colors. Such resins are commercially available in a variety of colors. Alternatively, the oven mitt could be made from a traditional insulating fabric with temperature-sensitive dyes, similar to Hypercolor t-shirts. By using an invisible resin or dye, the product will look identical to a normal oven mitt until heat is applied. Surprise!
