System-level Electronics

The highlighted zones on this diagram comprise the primary electrical components necessary for the door's functionality.

The electronics included in this red region are detailed below.

The Breadboard itself contains zones for each centralized circuit that contributes to the door's control.

This simple IR sensor diagram provided the basis for the IR module on the breadboard. Adafruit's thorough documentation of their addressable LED light strip helped us understand circuit design and data transfer requirements. Adafruit's power supplies were a key component - these LEDs can draw substantial current (up to 3.6A on the circumferential strip and 1.2A on each door edge strip), but are limited to 5V. Correct, safe, and consistent power supply for this system is vital for this design. The solenoids used require a 12V supply, our third power supply shown in the power supply module.

See the State Machine page for the system logic. More detailed circuit schematics can be provided upon request.
