Gordon spun around to look at Karen when they both heard a song they loved, and they jumped up from the table to crash about on the dance floor. In a way I was sorry that I couldn't spend the time to watch them, but I really needed to settle this David thing with Wendy.

"You were staring over at David's table for most of the time out there, and then you dragged me over here as so suddenly," I told her, getting ready to start the next sentence.

"And?" she interrupted. That was sort of snotty of her.

"And I thought you said that you and he were through, that you weren't still interested in him." At this point she started giggling, so I tried to get to the point before she decided I was a total fool and not worth listening to. "Now you're spending more of your time stalking him than being with me."

She dismissed me with a quick laugh, but then patted my hand and said, "No, silly, I was trying to stay as far away from that creep as possible. I told you as I breaking up with him, and I know I've said that before, but this time I mean it." I was sort of suspicious, but I really didn't have any choice other than to believe her.

But we both got to watch the show that Gordon and Karen put on. The last time I saw someone try to breakdance was when I was in elementary school.

It was both a blessing and a curse when the normal music resumed, but Karen and Gordon needed their break. Wendy and I both went out to dance when the slow music kicked in. We'd see if she was telling the truth.
