Elements of Narrative Pornography: Sex Sequences

A sex sequence is designated by the motivation of its participants and the type(s) of sex acts that occur. See example sequence.

Motivations

SA
Sex occurs through attraction or arousal
  1. Characters are mutually attracted
  2. Characters are both sexually aroused
  3. One character is attracted, another is sexually aroused
SB
Sex occurs; one or more characters have other motivations
  1. Character agrees to sex acts for money
  2. Character has sex to get something else
  3. Character has sex to avoid other consequences (blackmail)
  4. Character has sex as therapy, to heal other character
  5. Character has sex as therapy, to heal herself
  6. Character has sex to achieve revenge
SC
One or more characters are forced to have sex

Types of Sex

sa
Individual sex acts occur
  1. Manual stimulation of the genitals
  2. Stimulation of the genitals with non-genital body parts (breasts, feet, etc.)
  3. Cunnilingus
  4. Fellatio
  5. Vaginal intercourse
  6. Anal intercourse
  7. Oral-anal sex
  8. Use of inanimate objects on the genitals
  9. Use of inanimate objects in the anus
  10. Spanking
  11. Bondage
  12. Other sexual act occurs

Number and Gender of Participants

The number of participants is designated by a group of capital letters, which each designate a gender:
F
Female
M
Male
T
Transgendered

Each acting participant in the designated act receives a letter designating gender; then, after a space, each passive or receptive participant is designated.

Sex sequences are designated motivation, then act, then participants. Multiple acts are set apart by semicolons, with new motivations if motivations change.

Example Sequence

In the classic feature Debbie Does Dallas, Carol is caught performing fellatio on her boyfriend in the library. The librarian, Mr. Biddle, takes her into his office; Carol believes he will tell her parents and begs him not to. Mr. Biddle proceeds to spank her.

Carol's motivations in the first sex act are mutual arousal; in the second, her motivations are to avoid an unpleasant consequence (her parents finding out about her library escapades). So we code this act like this:
