Orhan 5 Day 40 TE 6065
The planar seed is growing, it's already got a 6in ring of dirt around
it.
Orhan 5 Day 42 TE 6065
Oathar talks to the records octopus and finds out the official corruption
status. Everyone is clean, except Kyrik who is at 1 corruption point.
Current events:
- Election in Izar: Lord Mayor gets elected in a couple of weeks. There's
a lord mayor and a council of guilds, but the mayor is not very powerful
at the present time. He used to be more powerful, but is currnetly a
figurehead. Don't forget! Maxim Pelax is there!
- In Orian they want to reestablish a city council. First Citizen Trask
is still in charge, but they want a council to get bigger.
- Sarnak has finished military maneuvers and is reemphasized their borders.
Orhan 5 Day 50 TE 6065
We split to the four winds.
Oathar goes to Izar, Haeraan goes to Orian, Alynna goes to Lys, and Kyrik
goes to Dynax.
In Lys, Alynna check in on her villa. Then she goes to her appointment
with the ritual mistress and keeper of the portal. The official line seem
sto be that the heinously dangerous portal is safer in our hands where
it can be watched, closed and not used. They chat for a bit, and Alynna
doesn't need appointments months in advance anymore. She gets an official
library card, and goes to the official library to look into ritual circles.
Dozens of powerful casters were involved. After the meeting, while making
arrangements for her brother's wedding festival, Alynna notices that an
odd cloaked figure just appears. It's clearly an elf, but as soon as they
see Alynna, they vanish again. A couple of nights later the same thing
happens again, near the great ritual circle. Alynna spends a few days stalking
her stalker alternating using misfeel and not. He only shows up when misfeel
is not up. Also, he can not be trapped. Hair trigger and then he's gone.
Really hard to follow. Then she got an eternal rose in a box sent to her
from a secret admirer, from Agyria.
In Orian, Haeraan pokes around. He starts by talking to Trask. Trask says
he has to cater to the peoples whims once in a while to maintain power.
He's expecting a 10 person council, and three of them will be in his pocket.
His main opponent is this retired captain who is annoyed by outside influences.
There's currently a brisk backroom exchange for many of the candidates,
some of it Trask, as they are buying and selling each other. During the
investigations, Haeraan discovers there's an elf in town buying up candidates
as well. He's got two or three already. After a couple of days of investigation,
he gets a glimpse of the guy. He finds out that it's a guy called "The
Man". Soon everyone will work for The Man. It's very mysterious. Trask
knows a couple of those who have been bought by the man. The current faction
count looks like a three way split. One faction to the Man, one to Trask,
and one for the Captain. After Haeraan spreads around a bunch of propaganda,
support for the two candidates of the Man drops. On the other hand, spending
for those candidates goes way up. They just start buying votes. Haeraan
decides to counter their monetary infusion by taking one of them down.
He tries to find someone fairly high up in the operation of one of those
guys. He teleports that poor fool away and impersonates him and diverts
money from his candidate to the other man candidates. So they way overspend
on one and not the other two. At the end of the election, The Man only
has two guys instead of three.
In Izar, Oathar and Arisia show up in state and chat up the guilds. The
guilds think the mayor is a little concession to the people. He's in our
pocket. They seem quite unconcerned. In the taverns people think the guilds
are junk. They're happy that their new mayor is here to save the day and
stand up to the guilds. Palermo, from Izar, with a pair of bodyguards is
here to save the day. Oathar goes to a campaign speech. He's glowing in
mentalism and has lots of bard spells when he talks. Oathar finds he detects
as a first level human. Oh dear. That's bad. Luckily Oathar thinks to examine
the bodyguards. They are 20th level Kalcha. Sigh. Oathar starts thinking
of ways to steal the election. Probably a public bribing by the guild masters.
Oathar and Arisia enact a plan to frame Palermo for taking bribes. Palermo
is selling us out!!! They frame him pretty well with Arisia taking the
role of the briber and Oathar taking the role of Palermo. At the next public
speech, Palermo tries to walk back the rumors about his bribery. Oathar
interferes with the voice amplifications and spotlight and stuff... But
it's mostly a draw. Oathar then goes to Guy. He pumps him up and Guy pulls
ahead in the polls. Guy immediately gets kidnapped. Oathar goes off to
Maxim Pelax for help. They decide to concede the election, and fight the
good fight from the other side. Guy is returned, Guy coneeds, Palermo is
elected. Maxim and Oathar plan their next moves...
In Dynax, Kyrik finds that no one is running the place. They just overthrew
their lord and now are a bit rudderless. It's becoming a den of thieves.
Kyrik goes to a seedy bar and buys a round for the whole bar. Lot's of
theives in there too. Only a priest of Moralis is trying to do anything
about it. Oh dear. There's a town, there's no government! It's madness!
Kyrik makes some contacts, but everyone tells him that in this town, it's
everyone for themselves now. He buys a trading permit, so his personal
guards have some sort of protection if they need to beat people up. Cops
from the old regime are for sale a 3/4 silver a day. Random toughs go for
1/2 a silver a day. Old cops can get other cops to accept your bribes so
that's why they are worth it. The theives guild is charging 10 gold a month
protection. But they can't really handle the freelancers. You can also
get anyone thrown into prison, for a price. Kyrik goes to Gireg for advice.
Gireg advises being a good guy, not a bad guy. No puppets or slaves in
charge... That evening a big new shiny church of Moralis is dedicated
in Dynax. There's a lay healer and food for the poor and guards and the
whole thing... Moralis is quite popular now. So Kyrik imports a temple
of Kieron and starts a holy soup kitchen war. He spends 5000 gold out of
pocket and gets the 82nd Kieron's Chippendales division to land in town
and start the Holy Sex War. This town also divides in thirds. Kieronites,
Moralisites, and the Family Values Faction.
