Similar to the Tree People, Casey Trees Endowment of Washington, D.C. (http://www.caseytrees.org/) is an organization whose main focus is the planting and caring of the trees in the city. In addition to planting trees, Casey Trees has compiled an inventory of the trees in the District of Columbia. By doing so, these trees can be made visible as part of the urban fabric which also required maintenance and need nurturing. The collection of the information is valuable because it forces all that hold responsibility, politicians and individual citizens alike, to acknowledge their responsibility and partake on their care.

Perhaps most importantly, both Casey Trees and the Tree People encourage and are based on the involvement of the members of the community. Through various educational and volunteer programs individuals are learning the importance of trees in the city, later to be translated into stewardship of their neighborhood. In order to acclimate people's perception to trees, Casey Trees approach has been to demonstrate the scientific impact of trees in the city. In essence, the incentive is derived through education.
